Stranda Makrill Snowboard

The Stranda Makrill Snowboard is a directional powder board built for riders who want fast float, quick direction changes, and dependable control when conditions move from deep snow to tracked terrain or firmer groomers. Inspired by the speed and movement of the North Atlantic mackerel, the Makrill uses a distinct fish shape to prioritise glide, flow, and powerful turning in soft snow.

This is Stranda’s purest powder shape, defined by a pronounced long powder nose and a pintail that helps the board sink naturally at the rear while keeping the front planing high. In practice, that means less effort in deep snow, easier surf-style turns, and a board that feels intuitive in trees, pillows, and open powder fields. The shape also keeps it engaging on mellow groomers, where it delivers smooth edge-to-edge response and clean carving lines.

The Makrill is volume shifted, designed to be ridden 6 to 8 cm shorter than a standard snowboard length. That shorter platform increases agility and makes the board easier to handle in tighter terrain, without giving up the float and support expected from a dedicated powder model. For riders who want a board that stays quick underfoot but remains stable when the pace picks up, this construction gives the Makrill a clear position.

Under the surface, the board combines a poplar core with bamboo stringers for a balanced mix of low weight and response. Triaxial fiberglass and carbon torsion rods add stiffness, damping, and precision, supporting its stated 8/10 flex. The ride profile uses rocker, camber, rocker, with short camber underfoot and longer rocker zones in the tip and tail. This creates a surf-oriented ride character while maintaining edge hold and composure when conditions turn firm or variable.

On harder snow, PowerBumps® at the inserts add extra grip, helping the board track more securely on icy sections and uneven terrain. A sintered Durasurf 4001 base provides speed and durability, while the high-gloss bamboo topsheet and green PU sidewalls complete the build with a technical, distinctive finish.
